Jonathan Golnik
Jonathan Golnik was born and raised in the United States. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds masters degrees from the
Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Jon completed his studies in the early 90's and then went on to spend almost a decade working as an emerging markets foreign exchange trader. Jon's international experience provided him with the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the world's emerging economies. It was on his many trips to the Far East where he first became acquainted with the fine, handcrafted hardwood furniture tradition of China and Indonesia. The handcrafted solid wood furniture was a refreshing alternative to mostly composite wood and veneer construction so common in many of today's furniture offerings. After returning to the United States, Jon decided to open Red River Trading Company.
Jon Golnik spends three months a year traveling extensively throughout South East Asia looking for new suppliers of high quality individual pieces of furniture. Sometimes these trips are solo adventures and others are with colleagues. No matter what form the trip takes or who is riding along, there is always a story to tell. On these journeys Jon keeps a journal, it is from this, that these tales have been taken.
